A twist specimen fabricator tester is a specialized device used in the magnet wire industry to prepare and test twisted enameled wire samples for quality control, particularly dielectric strength and insulation integrity.

Mimicking Coil Winding Stresses

It automates the creation of standardized "twist specimens" by precisely twisting wires together under controlled tension and turns per inch, mimicking coil winding stresses. This ensures repeatable samples for high-voltage breakdown tests, where the twisted wire is subjected to high voltage until failure.

• Often integrated with testers like Model MWT-1, including test cages for dielectric evaluation.

Testing Process

The fabricator twists wire e.g., up to 33 twists per inch on fine gauges, then the tester applies voltage to check breakdown resistance. Failure reveals enamel defects, ensuring wire reliability under thermal, electrical, and mechanical stress.
